Thursday January 1, 2009 Happy New Year! #87
“We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential.”
~Ellen Goodman
This quote mirrors my philosophy about resolutions. The best return on effort is on maximizing our potential vs. reversing or stopping our flaws. That doesn’t mean I think we should ignore our foibles. We should always try to stop bad habits and reduce excessive behaviors. However, I believe we should focus most of our self-improvement actions on those areas of our lives with the greatest potential. What do you love? What are you most passionate about? Where are your greatest skills? Focus on moving these forward and your 2009 is bound to be the best year possible!
Happy New Year. May you make the most of 365 days of potential!
