“No one has a right to consume happiness without producing it.” ~
Helen Keller
This quote is quite provocative, with the inference that when we don’t actively work to make others happy, or to produce an environment conducive to producing joy and happiness, we have no right to happiness ourselves.
I believe this is true and that the best way to achieve a sense of contentment, joy and happiness is to provide these for others. This does not mean ignoring your own needs, but rather prioritizing the needs of those around you. When we focus on putting good stuff out into the world, we have less time for worrying about what we lack and we are filled with the joy that helping others brings us.
Find happiness by helping other find theirs.
