“Knowledge will forever govern ignorance and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives.”
~James Madison
I am an avid learner. Moreover, I love to learn about a variety of subjects, viewpoints and philosophies. I find this broad knowledge guides me to a balanced view of people and events, and to decisions that are usually more right than wrong. Many people focus their learning only in a narrow category – whether one subject, one viewpoint, one philosophy. They may be seen as an “expert” in their area of interest or study. However, without balancing their learning, they are in danger of blind spots and ignorance. This ignorance drives most of human conflict.
By all means, learn. And have the courage to learn in a balanced way.
