“Intellectuals solve problems; geniuses prevent them.”
~Albert Einstein
Most leaders focus most of their effort, energy and intellect on being problem solvers. While this can often be necessary and may showcase your intellect, it is not the hallmark of a great leader. Effective leadership relies on the ability to step back and reflect with your team on why problems occur and how to prevent them in the future. As each team member becomes more adept at observation, reflection and prevention, the team and the organization can flourish as they spend more time creating value rather than on solving problems.
